• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

I don't need friends, I make beer.

Hi all,

I would like to introduce myself. My name is Dan Taylor. I'm very glad to be here. I'm getting started learning about real BBQ, not a lot of it here in southern California. I just put a deposit down on a Klose BYC, still trying to figure out the options I'll need, (but that's another post).

Anyway, I love brewing beer, bulldogs(any Bull breed for that mattter, actually all dogs), old trucks, cooking, football, watching Ultimate Fighting Challenge, any and all motor sports, & my girlfriend. In that order.

I look forward to getting to know you guys & learning a bunch.

Here I am with a buddy and some Porterhouse steaks. I'm the fat ugly guy on the right. As opposed to the fat ugly guy on the left.

Welcome to the site!

We were just saying that we needed another fat ugly guy from California.

The workload was just getting to be too much for me.

You like meat. you like beer. You will fit in great around hear. These are some of the most knowledgeable BBQ people on the planet. And they are a lot of fun too!

So pull up a chair, learn what you can and share what you learn!

Glad to have you aboard!!

Welcome aboard Dan. Enjoy what you learn and share what you know. It's the Brethren way.

Welcome Brother Dan! There are a number of other brewers here, we all have a passion for Q and I especially enjoy infecting tofu land with the the wonderful aroma of Brethern BBQ. Don't be shy about asking questions or posting your experiences. We have a couple of BYC owners here who I'm sure will be glad to share their opinions.

Oh yeah, the BYC. I have one and here are a few things to consider.

Bigger. Think an extra foot bigger in the horizontal or more if you can. You will appreciate it better.

Grates. Get the pullout type. You will kick yourself later if you do not. I know Phil is.

Shelf. I had mine wrapped with stainless. Very nice.

Firebox. Upgrade to the 1/2 inch plate. It's a must.

Wheels. I upgraded to heavier dutier wheels so as not to have a problem down the road.

Send me a PM or to bbqchef33 if you have any questions.

Welcome aboard! As you probably already know this site is great. Your fellow brethren will have your back through thick and thin. Some may have your back moreso then others, be careful...do not drop anything. =)

Let the exchange of information start a flowin'

Welcome, glad to have another So Cal Brethren around. Don't worry about all the other sttes, we can smoke in all weather here, Sunshine, Sunshine, and Sunshine. You will learn lots, and share what you learn.

Welcome!

I see you are a strong supporter of P.E.T.A. as well. (People Eating Tasty Animals)

I'm going to call the REAL P.E.T.A. on you and they'll spank you hard.......well maybe it was me that was bad.

Anyway welcome.
