• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Well...maybe not but my first one came out beautiful. I have never had a smoked turkey before and it is delicious. I mean really good. Thanks to everyone who gave me the hints and tips to do this. I can't wait to do this for everyone on Thanksgiving. Pics coming soon as soon as I can figure out how to get them off my phone.

You assume correct sir. I figured I needed a seperate victory thread. :-D

Nothing wrong with that!
On some of the boards, you have little choice

With the outstanding software that Phil has provided, we can keep "cook sagas" and "topics" together easily and they do not get lost in "history".
Makes them really interesting and easy to follow.

Many of them read like an interesting novel and are classics

Welcome to our software world and congrats on the great results.

Porn time! Sorry about the quality. I'm still learning to work this new phone. They're a little fuzzy since I had to blow them up big enough to see what the hell they are. It looked a lot better in person.

Looks good to me. Did offsetting the lid help with your temps?

Yeah, sorry about the pics. I was hoping to have a camera over here but it didn't make it. I brined it using Ron_L's recipe given to me in another thread. Offsetting the lid worked great. There were a lot of coals in there from the initial startup that had not burned at all. When I offset the lid it got everything going. I seated the lid as the temp rose and held right at 310 for the last 45 min with all vents at 100%. When I lit it I used the minion method and assembled right after I dumped the chimney in. I think next time I will give it a half hour or so in the open to spread before I assemble. I will probably go through more charcoal but it should give me a better burn.
