• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Found the board today through Yahoo.

Been smoking brisket for several years on my Weber gas grill. My wife got me a Great Outdoors propane smoker for Christmas. Yep, from what I gather on this board, I am a LazyBBQer.

The first thing I am smoking is a Boston Butt and will be taking it off in about 2 more hours. It holds the temp great.

My brisket technique which serves me well:

9 hours in light smoke at 215. Put in a pan, add a little beer or water and cover tightly with foil, then crank the heat to 275 for 3 more hours.

RUB: I prefer Angelo's Beef Rub and Angelo's Chicken/Pork Rub.
(Angelo's used to be the best bbq joint in Fort Worth. Still pretty good, but many say RailHead is now better).

Right on - welcome aboard JGH. We don't know what we're doing here but sure have a helluva good time trying to figure it out. Lotsa good talent, humor, and friendship can sum this joint up. Glad to have you.

Welcome fellow Texan!

Angelo's and Railhead can be a close call. One thing they both have in common is ice cold beer so I'm willing to cut either some slack now and then :)

Well bury me in an anthill and smear my ears with jam!! Another Texas gasser, brd will be just another face in the crowd now!! Glad to have you with us jgh!!

BTW, the pulled pork came out great. Used the same technique and cooking time as for my brisket.

I really like my new smoker.

FYI, Academy is now carrying Angelo's rubs. $5.99 for a large jar.

Nice to meet you. These guys are a wealth of BBQ knowledge. I'm not. Ask me anything about Mexicans and/or being a Mexican. I am an expert.
