• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Howdy Yall!

Hey guys,

I have recently joined TBB and have taken a quick look around and like what I see. Thought I would introduce myself to the community and show off my newly built pit. My dad and I took several weekends to build this pit (yes several, due to building an additional pit for my B-I-L) but finally have it finished. I have included a pic below during the first burn to season the pit. Since then, I have smoked a few racks of ribs and a pork shoulder. My next challenge will be a brisket. I have tinkered with various rubs (homemade only) on the ribs and shoulder. They are still being tweaked. Let me know what you guys think of the pit. All comments are welcome:

# BBQ Pit Details #

2 3" BBQ Thermometers (mounted on doors)
Expaned Metal tray (mounted in front only)
T-Handle on left end.
Ash & Greas Scraper
Heavy Duty Rubber Castors (should have gone with metal)

Welcome to the camp, Tom.

Welcome to the backyard...post often & enjoy!

Nice lookin' pit...can't wait to see the food porn

Once the pit warms up, there is only a 5 degree temperture between the between the far end of the smoker to the firebox end.

Hope to have some food pr0n by Sunday. Depends if the weatherman is going to be reliable or not. Sunday's forecast showed some rain here in Dallas. But they have shown this before and not a drop fell from the sky.

Nice job on the pit Brother Tom.
Welcome to the best clubhouse on the web.

Welcome aboard, my southerly brother!

There is a nice company here in the Metroplex that offers various kinds and sizes of wood. I recently purchased Pecan and Aged Oak to smoke with. May try some others later.

Welcome to the forum Tom!

Great looking pit you and your dad built.

Welcome fellow North Texan! I'm located in Keller. You'll have to jump in when we do another Bretheren lunch here in DFW. We're overdue for one.
