• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Got a case and am packing them up for the freezer. But since I'll be cooking some stuff with hatch I figured I'd leave some in the fridge and be ready to go without having to wait for them to defrost.

Whatcha think? How long?

I follow this. Let rest and fridge or freezer pretty quick. I store my chiles about 7-10 in zip lock bags. Press out air and freeze flat. I thaw them in a bowl of water in the bag in the fridge. Once completely thawed I use them/cook them within three days and start over. I don't eat raw green chile, though I know several who do. I cook mine.

Fridge thawed I use within 3 days
Frozen- I've gone a year plus.

Last a year or longer. I usually run out about the year mark but I've had some that were hiding in the back of the freezer for over a year and were fine to use when thawed.

This same warning can be found on nearly every container of fresh roasted frozen and jarred green chile

Found this on a green chili site:

"How long do they keep? How do I store them?
Chiles are very susceptible to mold and botulism. They can grow mold in the refrigerator within a week. When you bring them home, you should pack them up into small containers and freeze all but those you will be using immediately."

Thanks! I'll leave a small batch in the fridge & use in a couple days. The rest are freezer bound. Almost done with my ghetto IQF. Sheet pan, parchment, peppers. Freeze for about 30 minutes, then into freezer bags. Throw on kitchen floor a few times an hour or so apart to make sure they are separated.

One of my favorite things is roast, peel and fry like you would catfish. Then start layering and make a skillet rellano. It's good.

There are thousands of recipes online. Use what you have on hand plus your imagination and it's a pretty cool addiction.
