• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

How fast does your pellet grill get up to 450 degrees

I am doing baked potato and steak this evening on my new MAK 1 Star. Decided to cook the potatoes at 450 and thought I would time how long it took to get the pit up to temp.

Well I was quite happy to see that it took 11 minutes to reach 450. It was 80 degrees outside when I started so that certainly helped.

Just curious if other know how quickly they can get up to 450 or thereabouts. I assume a gas grill will smoke the 11 minute mark with ease.

Just curious!

I average about 15+/- a couple mins. The latest firmware seems to have knocked about 5 mins off the preheat time which I ain’t plainin’ about :)

Still.....no poll...??

Rec Tec has been back in action and revived.

Around ten minutes...maybe 15 for the 590. It was a massive farking PITA to clear the jam I had, btw!

I also adjust the feed rate depending on the weather for temp control.

Fired up the Weber SmokeFire EX4 v2 to see - 16:37. 78F outside, no wind. Now I guess I'll make hamburgers for dinner.

I didn't test the ol' Rec-Tec. Since using up the last of my spare ignitor rods, she's been waiting on me to install the new ignition system.

It's about 15 minutes now, but when it's below freezing it's closer to 20-25. BTW, I heard something about firmware updates. I'm guessing this isn't pushed and I have to do this myself somehow?

Reach out to MAK and they’ll send you an update module. It’s a 5 min process. Super easy.

If I want my cooker to heat up fast I open the ash clean out door and put a big handful of pellets directly into the burn pot before switching on. I haven't timed it, but this makes things heat up very quickly.

My pitts and spitts tops out around 425 with every pellet besides lumberjack. Used jealous devil and it hit right around 500. Still takes an hour.

I don't think I ever went 0° to 450° with the Yoder. Don't usually cook that high. I Used to when cooking Pizza on the GMG and I would guess the 10 minute range. Use the Blackstone now and it gets real hot real fast.

Your jam motivated me to completely empty the pellets out of my Rec-Tec.
Hopper and auger tube are completely empty and vacuumed.

As far as how long... As SVTNate mentioned...I have no idea, never paid attention. Phone alerts when it gets to its set point.
