• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Home today with a bad cold. I hate summer colds. I'm good for one about every other year. The congestion is a killer. For lunch today, I thought I'd open up my sinuses: Hot Sausage Pie.

I had to use what was available, so here goes...

  • 1 pound Jimmy Dean sausage, browned with one medium onion, diced
  • minced garlic, black pepper, thyme to taste
  • add flour to browned sausage mixture like you would for sausage gravy until flour is absorbed
  • whisk in 16 oz of milk (the anticipated result is a very thick sausage gravy)
  • mix in diced carrots, pre-blanched
  • simmer briefly to allow thickening
  • add hot sauce to taste
Pour mixture into pie plate. Cover with pie crust. Bake at 375 for 10-15 minutes until crust is slightly brown and firm to the touch.

Corn and bell peppers would be great in this, but I was without today.

Mmmmm... sausage. I'm breathing better now.

Hope you get to feeling better. Pie looks good!

Oh yeah, I'd be hitting that for sure!! Hope you feel better. I'm a strong believer in Tequila for cold recovery.

Look great never heard of making one that way. Might have to try that.

I have noticed that the Brethern sure like Sausage!

Looks great! I don't want any because of the cold so make another when you get better!
