i posted a drum smoker i built on CL for $125 and am getting some inquiries. today someone called and asked about buying 2 or 3 for their restaraunt. how funny. these things aint pretty but so what. this customer would like a 2nd rack, but i told her i can do it, but they would have to supply the kettle lid. cant find those cheap.

That is very cool. I am thinking about doing the same thing this summer (teacher needs money in the summer too you know).

I think you have them priced a little low though. I know I will have to sell mine for more. I'm getting some bids on the charcoal baskets/fire grates. That is what is hurting my pricing right now!!!

Yes Ron that is me, Gator, i started cheap to see if i can sell them I got 3 drums for $5 each, then use 2 grates from Walmart at $10 each. the hardware cost $15 So at that point I am up to $40. I have 3 charcoal/water pans from some old brinkman smoke n grills. I will drill holes in those for the basket.

For handles, I am only using one on the lid, as thats all thats needed. I am not including a thermometer. If i did I would use a turkey fryer thermometer. add 1 can of paint and i think i top out at $65. The next ones I make I will up to $150-$175. If the ones I have dont sell, i will up the price.

the restaraunt owner will be coming by to look at them, i told her i can add/customize based on what she wants. I would rather go cheap on the first couple to see what happens
