Q-Dude
Knows what WELOCME spells.
Hello to everyone, I'm Craig. I'm mainly known for eating barbeque but love to cook it too, so I'm eager as heck to learn from all of you folks. So far I've loved reading the recipes and the interactions between y'all...I'll try to keep up my end.
I am really intrigued with the ugly drum smokers and as chance would have it I've located a supply of food quality drums, so I'm going to give building one a shot. Im sure there will be a lot of trial and error but heck, it's all good as long as you are moving forward.
I have a couple of weber grills and a few years ago I bought a homemade grill made from an old fuel oil tank. They turned the critter sideways and cut it in half so it will hold an entire pig and then some. I've cooked a pig on it and have also filled it with turkeys and chicken, cooked upright on beer cans. I've mounted it on an old boat trailer I found so it is mobile. I get any number of invitations to parties hosted by friends, and they usually indicate that the grill is welcome too, so I suspect it may be a bit more popular than I am.
I live out in the middle of nowhere in Central Illinois so I have no problems with creating either noise or smoke or fire to excess. I'm married to a wonderful, patient lady who claims to enjoy eating what I bring in off the grill, so that's something. I turn 59 in a few weeks and can see myself devoting even more time to learning the art of barbeque in the years to come as I move towards retirement.
Hope to make a lot of new friends here!
