• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Greetings fellow pit-masters.
I seem to be having a new issue with my FireBoard 2 Drive.
I am running the FB2 drive with a pit bull fan, on a Mixon G33. (I’ve had this setup for about a year and a half)
On my last cook, all of a sudden the fan was not getting the pit up to temperature. I noticed that my FireBoard was intermittently slowing the fan, instead of blasting it at 100% like it normally does.
I read somewhere that if the battery didn’t have sufficient charge that it could effect the drive, so I took it in and charged it in the middle of the cook, desperate to try anything. This had no effect at all.
The pit wouldn’t get above 200.

I am currently troubleshooting inside the house, and I’m noticing one, the fan is not staying in at 100%, about every three minutes or so it slows down, and about 30 seconds later it ramps back up.
Also, the controller is dimming and then lighting back up every minute or so. And every once in awhile, the screen blanks and then comes back.

This setup has been pretty solid for me over the last 18 months or so as I’ve done some catering and large cooks.

I’m wondering if there’s something I may be missing. I have the door alarm turned off.

I also checked out my cook logs and didn’t find these same fan speed spikes in previous cooks. Just recently.

Thanks in advance for any help.

***I tried attaching a video but the file is too large. 😐

Try plugging the Fireboard into power, or their battery backup with the fan plugged in.

I did do a writeup about using the pit bull fan with the Fireboard 2 Drive, where I found that it doesn't work properly...it stops running below the 30% fan speed from the Fireboard, and oscillates on and off from about 30% to 50%. The Fireboard fan, and the pit viper fan both run properly from 0 to 100%.
