• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

I want to install a rotisserie in my HastyBake Roughneck, but I’m not sure how to go about it or which rotisserie to buy? All help is appreciated as I know I’m on my own with this. By the way, I know I’ll have to deal with the shelf on the side somehow, but that’s the least of my concerns. It’s about 22” side to side.

St Louis BBQ sells a rotisserie kit for their trolley. The 1 bracket is welded on, but I’m sure it wasn’t designed that way. I’d give them a call and see if you’d be able to drill and install on the hasty bake. They’re pretty amazing people to deal with and I their price isn’t bad for the rotisserie. It comes in multiple pieces to make as long or short as you want. Also has the counter balances too. It’s a nice rotisserie. LSG sells an aftermarket rotisserie for their stuff too, but I’ve never seen it so can’t say for sure, but Chris’ team has excellent customer service. I’m sure he’ll help as well.

Have you googled it? There is an amazing amount of information on Google or YouTube.

I’ve been looking at the Roughneck since it came out, if you can figure out a rotisserie solution for it that just might push me over the edge. The one thing I question would be how to get a rotisserie mounted without drilling into the body & then if you did wouldn’t that make it harder to use as a smoker once the spit rod is removed? You’d need to figure out a way to plus the whole so it’s airtight correct?

Have you talked to HB about it?
I haven’t yet and plan on it on Monday. Thing is, I spoke with them about adding one of their folding shelves to the RN and they were resistant, so I finally just purchased one and with slight modification, it works great.

Well if anyone is interested, I found an easy way to add a rotisserie to my RoughNeck. Just so happens I had an unused rotisserie kit for a 22” Weber Kettle that I never used, so I checked it out. Turns out it’s practically a direct bolt on. The spit has the smooth sections perfectly placed and the motor mount simply has to be flattened because it’s made to fit the round kettle. Hardest part was figuring out where to mount it. I positioned the spit dead center front to back and 7” from the lid top and about 7” from the bottom grate so I could use a drip pan on the shelf. A chicken should easily clear and a small turkey might as well, but we’ll see. Placed there, it clears my folding shelf and when the motor is removed, I can use my removable shelf. Another good part is I can still use the cover even with folding shelf folded up and mount left on.

Since you have holes vs slots, you are skewering meat while exposed to direct fire and same when done. That’s why other grills have slots.

Actually, everything is positioned so that the loaded spit is maneuvered into place. It works that way in another smoker of mine. Also, I will be using the diverted more to than likely, although I would like to try direct fire too.

You would have to insert one end in a hole, shove it long, then retract back into the opposite hole, then connect motor.

No wood handle then on the non-drive end.
