• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

The Anchorman

Guest
Hi my name is Ray Depot, and I am known as The Anchorman. That's cause our team is The Anchormen, Rhode Island's Original Competition BBQ Team. We have been cooking up here in the New England area for years. I would like to thank PigMaker for turning me on to this site. Eric is my brother in Fat Boy, and we cook pretty well together also.
I live in Narragansett RI, but our team is made up from members from all over the place. My Brother Bob is the co captian of the team, Castleton NY, Billy is from Myrtle Beach SC, Jimmy from Nashua NH, all from RI originally. Oh yeah my son Chris plays with us sometimes also.
PigMaker is now one of The Anchormen also now.
A few pics of us, The Anchormen in all our glory.
Eric is the judge with the funny hat at the judges table.
The BBQ Blues Brothers, BWS Fat Boy, and Party.

Do you believe that stuff? Thats funny? Are you cooking it or judging it?

Robert and I are the organizers......and, yes, I can believe it. Though, I don't know if everyone finds it funny.....Seems like this happens every year with the grilling contests.....

I know I helped organize the RI contest the last two years for the Rotary and when you say open garnish people go way over board and get crazy.

What is your team and have we ever cooked against each other? Are you guys Big Country?

Ray

I haven't cooked a competition yet....this will be my first season to compete. Our team's name is Atom's Ribs. I've cooked w/ Rob Richter from Big Island/Hill Country in the past at some events like bbq-nyc, though. I also post on Ray Basso's forum as Matt in NYC.

Were you with the team when we had the RI contest with the veal chop?
Big Island had an issue with veal that time, who knew? Always something.
I have seen Matt in NYC b4, you must have seen me there also.
Is there anyother Rhode Islander in here that you know about?

I remember that contest.....I wasn't there, but they had political objections to the veal category.....LOL. Can't please everyone.

Not sure if there is anyone else from RI on here, but you can check the brethren map (and add yourself....)
