Unfortunately, I don't get around here as often as I would like, but I figured its been several months since I've come around and decided to reintroduce myself to you folks.
Smokeypig... that's me.
I've been cooking since I was about 16. And barbecuing since i was 20. I use a New Braunfels Black Diamond offset barrel smoker (charbroil doesn't make them any more, hasn't since they bought the company. pissed me off). I wanted to get the bandera - which is why I originally came to this place in 2003 or 04 - asking for advice about alternatives. back in the day this joint was known as bandera-brethren.com
the folks around have always been very helpful, very friendly - sometimes obnoxious or seriously cracking wise - but that's ok. its all in good fun.
oh, and of course, I love real fatties... that is, those made of pork sausage and NO BEEF... those are meat loaves. calling smoked hamburger loaves fatties gets my goat. big time.
