Happy Phriday!
In our part of Maryland, this weekend is a big Scouting event called Webelos-O-Ree...where the Boy Scouts set up various instructional stations around a camp ground (e.g., fire making, first aid, knots, etc.). The Cubs go all around the camp ground, from station to station with their parents. It's instructional, but also an opportunity for Cubs interested in continuing on in their Scouting careers into Boy Scouts to evaluate different Troops.
As a way of demonstrating our Troops interest and passion for cooking, we will be cooking a whole hog, open, on a spit. The Cubs all ask, "Is that a REAL pig??!!??". The parents (typically, the dads), respond, "Yes. Yes it is. And it smells delicious!"
Good marketing and a lot of fun. Not to mention, delicious!
We'll also be doing trash can turkey, gyros, chili, 40 lbs of French fries, smoked Mac n cheese, and more.
Will be cooking for 50 Sat night. Can't wait!
