Anyone ever heard of throwing black pepper on your fire while you're cooking?
No...I don't mean for seasoning your wood...but for enhancing the smoke flavor.

I don't know about enhancing the smoke flavor. I'd think you're better off just getting the true smoke flavor of the chosen wood and then if you want more pepper flavor, add that you your rub.
