• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

I am considering building a permanent LP Grill / Outdoor kitchen.

Does anyone have recent experience and opinions on specific brands and models of drop in LP grills? My main criteria is cost, I'd really like the drop in itself to be in the $600-700 range, but looking around this may be unreasonable. It does not need to be huge, but it could be. (3 burner may be a little small, 4 burner is probably just right, 5 burner may be a little big). For point of reference, as of now I am leaning toward :

http://www.bbqgalore.com/store/item.bbq?invky=1782038http://www.bbqgalore.com/store/item.bbq?invky=5040552

Any thoughts? I know several folks that have got even the cheaper Turbo line from BBQ Galore, and maintain the value is pretty good actually. (Acceptable quality for good relative price)

important, criteria:
- cost
- size (needs to have a 'decent' primary cooking grate size)
- cost

NOT important criteria
- BTU output
- rotisserie stuff
- infrared back burner
- Warming trays, etc

Find a good welder to make one. Seriously. Well, maybe not make the burner; but you could and I have.

Ducane and Broilmaster make resonably priced drop-ins. (they are called "head only"). Broilmaster is the more expensive of the 2, but of a much better quality. If I had to choose, I'd go with broilmaster hands down. There slogan is "Buy your last grill today", and they are right. Mine is going on 15 years and i just changed the burner for the first time last summer.

Why wouldn't BTU output be be important?

bbqgalore pricey.............
Actually, no. Looks like the "cheapest" place to buy the comparable product.

Well, all of the grills I have looked at have sufficient BTU to support my needs. So, "more and more" BTU relative to industry norm is overkill for my needs. It simply is not a 'selling point'.

This grill will be used for quick and simple stuff like burgers dogs and steaks. I realize I may sacrifice some preheat time, and I am ok with that. And even on steaks, I don't like a 1200 degree sear.

Sam's sells a 3 or 4 burner unit in that range I would not buy one without the radiant heat and rotisserie. I bought the small 3 burner gas 600 ish and love it we cooked all summer on it before I started construction of my indoor kitchen. Lowe's has a good, better and best model dropin at from ok to ohmygod prices all pretty good brands.

Install a gasser in the counter if you must. But have one of these as your outdoor Q area/kitchen centerpiece.
