• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

1. I got a tax refund
2. Old grill is falling apart
3. Wife gave me permission to buy one (important step - do not skip) :D

Ok, so I've been looking for a couple years but now I can go get one. Last year I looked at the ones at Sams but now Lowe's has the Jenn Aires. Here's the link http://www.lowes.com/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=57421-40307-720-0062-LP

Anybody heard anything good or bad about these? My bro-in-law just got the 45000 BTU model and wished he'd bought this one. He says the burners are lifetime warranty, etc.

Oh, they've got a special on assembling it free this week.

I got the Coleman 52XX series at Lowe's -- looked real hard at Jenn-Aire but the extra $100 dollars and still having to buy the rotisserie decided me in favor of the Coleman -- the Jenn Aires are real nice and get a pretty good rating from Consumer Reports except for price :D

Lowe's also had the "same as cash" deal going for purchases over $299 so we're using their money for a year.

Go for it! Sam's has one similar, but I don't recall the brand. Price is about the same. Well. I guess you said that didn't you...

Costco also has one for the same price. Includes rotisserie, tank, etc. Not sure of the techspecs. I need a new grill also but unsure if I want to fancy my deck with stainless steel.

Yeah, the rotisserie is extra. So is the cover and tank. I'll probably hold off on the rotisserie right now and I've got a tank so that's no problem. I'm just tired of needing to get parts every year and the replacement sear plates suck these days. The brand new one I got last year is already pitted.
Another brother-in-law dropped a few hundred on a new Sunbeam last year and its a POS.

I understand about buying parts! My old grill was leaning to the left and the spouse said let's go to Lowe's :D

I love the rotisserie and wouldn't be without the IR burner again! The stainless grills at Sam's are pretty nice, too.

Anyone see the Green Egg station with the small egg and gas grill combo??

My OL just got the sams $600 stainless rig as a reward at work. Love the rotissertie and IR burner. Takes longer to get all that stainless warm than I'm used to with the old sears 169 after season model. Cover is crap, light weight thing will do well to last the season. Assembled easy, we're real happy with it so far, for the price, real happy.

Speaking of covers! I got a pretty nice ripstop type cover with velcro adjustments at Lowe's -- one of the universals. Fits the Coleman like it was made for it -- I wanna say it was about $20-25 and well worth it.

I need a job like that! As a public school teacher, the only "bonus" I ever get is extra students during the year (and some of these are real winners).

Hey, I got a tax refund. I didn't win the lottery! :D

I recomend the Weber Table top propane grill, the kind that you twist on a 1 lb propane cylinder. It only costs about $20 so you can use the rest of your money to buy BEER!!

Do you still employ the Dunce Cap Mod?

No, can't do any of that POOPIE any more. :( Don't want to hurt their self-esteem. So we lie to them now, tell them how good they are when they arn't. Then when they get out in the real world and find how cruel and harsh it is, they are unprepared.

Back on topic: We are grilling hamburgers and hot dogs for our honor roll students. This gives me an opportunity to try out my new Weber Platinum grill. :D

Damn good grill for 25 bucks. I've had one for 10 years, and still use it when we go camping. Used it as my only grill for a long time, when I was in school. Even cooked a brisket on it one time back before the bandera.

Well, I picked it up last night. Got the floor model because they other one they had put together they'd mangled some of the screws and the wings were loose. Farkers. Couple of scratches on the wing surfaces but it would have those after the first few cooks anyway. Now I just need my neighbors to come down and help me unload it today. Still can't lift over 20#.

I do get to go back to work Monday so I'll have a network connection again. Slow farking dialup is driving me nuts.
