We had a get together yesterday for the 4th, and the plan was to make burgers and dogs for a group of about twenty close freinds. Burgers and dogs were purchased, and the grill was aflamin' away.
Problem was I had a ham that needed smoked I had started it early in the day with the intent of slicing it for sandwich meat the next day. It ran for six hours over hickory at 225. Unfortunately, it came out of the smoker before I got the burgers started. I cut into the ham to do my typical menu sample and the slice disappeared off the knife, as did the next and the next and the one after that.
I told everyone that I would have the burgers going in a sec as soon as I sliced and put the ham away. Nope. 10 lbs of ham gone. No leftovers, and I only cooked about three burgers and two dogs. Guess I'm having hamburgers this week instead of smoked ham. :-(
