• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

I was wondering if all you Blackstone / Camp Chef griddle owners can help. What temperature are you able to bring up the griddle to sear a steak?

I've spent a good 10min+ heating up the Camp Chef @ high all burners on. While it was heating up I cook my garlic and mushroom and continue to wait for the other side temperature to go up. When I was done cooking the mushroom the hottest un-touched part was about 450F. I put my steak on to sear but it didn't produce a very nice sear. The other side was even worse. It was just gray.

Should I have waited longer for the temperature to raise to 500+? Is that even possible on these griddles?

Thanks in advance.

I have the CC Flat Top and have not had it above medium but got upwards of around 420F towards the back with that setting. Don't know if it even stabilized at that point as I went about cooking. Only cooked 3 times on it (breakfast once and burgers twice) so haven't attempted a steak sear yet (intend to though). The manual states not to go up to high.

One thing I have noticed is that I seem to have quite a gradient from front to back. It seems that the front is 50+F warmer than the back across all burners. Having said that, I really haven't attempted to let it go long enough to stabilize so I may just need to give it a bit more time. I'll play with it more when I return from vacation.
