• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Flew into DFW for a conference in Grapevine that starts tomorrow. I had a chance to drive over to Dallas and eat lunch at the original Sonny Bryan's.

It was a treat. I know lots of people say it isn't as good as it once was, but I really enjoyed it. The brisket sandwich was good (I've had better brisket) but along with the beans, onion rings and the total atmospher it was a nice day.

The last time I was in Dallas was 1977 for a Led Zeppelin concert. It's changed a great deal. But what hasn't changed is how nice everyone is. This is such a friendly area. You Texas brothers should be proud. The Texas hospitality is alive and well.

I visited a couple of other places, but only took pictures. Drove by North Main Street BBQ but they are closed during the week. Just finished dinner at the steak house at Bass Pro Shop. Nice hunk of meat...

Anyway, it's off to work tomorrow.

All and all it was a great day.

Now if your in Grapevine, not too far from the Bass Pro Shop is a newer Q place called Hard Eight BBQ. Order straight of the pits... pretty cool. If ya go there, skip the sides that they offer for more $ and just order your meat and get a serving of the complimentary beans from the bean pot...

Go East on Bass Pro Drive until you see it...

I'd stay well clear of Tolbert's in Grapevine... at least from my experience. Went there twice. Only went the second time 'cause we couldn't believe that it was so bad the first time... maybe I just hit'em no two bad days...?

If your in the mood for a burger, drive over to Southlake Town Center and try out Snuffer's (by the movie theatre... if you go, don't forget the cheese fries!

Hope ya enjoy the rest of your stay in DFW...

James.

If you eat at the Big Buck Brewery again before you leave, make sure you try the venison sausage. It's not half bad.

Are you still in town saturday? N TX bash in Richland Hills if you are.

Ummm...Jorge....BEER! ;)

I ate at the original Sonny's once too, and enjoyed it.

I am glad to hear some positive waves on the orig. Sonny Bryans; it was my favorite back in the mid-sixties and it's good to hear some folks still consider it worthy.
Hope the conference went well Larry.

Oh, yeah that too. They had a decent Heffeweizen the first time I tried it. For some reason I didn't care for it the next time.

Doesn't that also make it not half good as well?

I had the same experience with Heffeweizen.

I enjoyed it. And it appeared that everyone else there did also.

Here's a picture of my lunch. There's also some beans hidden underneath the onion rings.
