TK here trying to migrate into our house. I'm a little slow with change but so far so good.
Anyway - local grocer is having a clearance (75% off) sale on their "summer" merchandise. They have regularly priced ($3.99) bags of hickory and mesquite chunks for $0.99 a bag. Before anyone gets excited, $0.99 is a "good", but not terrific deal cuz the store is notoriously high priced. These bags are 1/5 of a cubic foot, weigh about 5 or 6 pounds and best described as about 1/2 10lb bag of charcoal. Since I've been getting my cooking wood for free, and isn't the greatest deal, I didn't jump all over it. On the other hand, I don't have hickory or mesquite so I bought 5 bags of each. Sooo - my next brisket will be cooked with a hickory and mesquite combination.
Now here's my mission. The store hasn't moved many bags (other than what I bought) sonce Sunday, and they have a whole farking pallet full, probably 60 bags or so. I'm gonna try to get them to sell me the whole farking thing at $0.50 a bag. That would be a great deal. Wish me luck.
