• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Scored a truck load (Ranger short bed) of apple wood yesterday. A buddy of mine has a client who sold his house and he had this huge pile of cut up apple trees he needed to get rid of. We took two pick up loads and filled up a 5 X 8 trailer and hardly put a dent in the pile. Weather permitting, I hope to go back today for another load.

Good Score Neil...Hope the weather holds for You so You can get it all Home !!

Just noticed...OldBob's Got Wood Too !!!!...Not to shabby for an Oldtimer....LOL

OMG! $200! Don't they have any apple orchards in MN? I need to count my bbq blessings because I have never paid one penny for wood. I have a friend who has a tree service business and I live in the heart of Michigan's fruit belt. Farmers prune their orchards every year around this time and you can easily pick up a truck load 2-3" diameter limbs by just stopping at the farm and asking for it. That or they just bulldozed over an entire orchard and will push it all into a burn pile if nobody stops and takes it away. Fruit trees are only good producers for a limited number of years then they just take the orchard out and plant a new one. Now if only they could come up with a variety of pecan trees that could withstand the Michigan cold I would be truely all set. Hope I don't sound greedy! Due to the emergence of the ash bore beatle, you cannot tansport fire wood.

Neil,
I get Oak FREE. But the guys with the Apple and Cherry split it for me about the size of a soda can. Perfect for the small Brinkmann.
That's why they charged me so much. Easier to have them split it than do it myself. Every time I get out my chain saw when I'm drunk, I take a chance on cutting something off!!!!!!
PARTY!!!!!!!!!!
Smoke On!!!!

i agree, i got a bunch of apple last year, and this year i am going to get some peach in a little bit. the farmer told me to call him late feb. if anyone in the st. louis area is interested, i will let you know when its ok to get the wood.

Very nice addition to the wood pile!!! I got a little apple about a year and a half ago when I was going through NC. Strapped it to the top of the Suburban and came on home. I let it season about 8 months and used it all up on the next few smokes. I really liked it on spares and BBs.

Again, congrats.... but it doesn't mean I can't be jealous!!
