• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

New to this forum but really excited about how quickly brethren chime in to help and share. I'm a backyard guy that does one or two comps a year just for the fun...but I want excellent Q techniques to take back home for parties and doing small cooks for work events, etc. Anyway, my ribs are always better when I baste anytime the smoker is open. Any suggestions on a good baste that is compatible with the sweeter KC finishing sauces? I don't want to baste with something that works well during cooking but actually fights with the final finishing sauce that is sweeter. Thanks for any suggestions.

Plain old apple juice meatburner. If you want mix 75% apple juice and 25% of a neutral oil like corn oil or vegetable oil.

i use apple juice and Jack Daniels. bout 75% -25% respectivly. also have used just beer. when i didnt have anything else. Dont worry guys i didnt ruin the good beer. i used budlight.

I've used apple juice cut with 20% cider vinegar, too.

KISS. Don't fix it if it ain't broke. Thanks!

Thanks for the web-site. I love brats cooked in beer, but this brings a huge menu to the table cooking with beer. Whoosh..just popped a cold one and going to look into BBQ and beer. Imagine that!
Thanks FireBrewer for the web-site.

Used Cuervo margarita mix once. Made some damn good ribs, best I remember :icon_sleepy 8)

I use apple juice w/worstershire/soy sauce, this is the mixture I inject in the butts then wrap in saran wrap and refridge over night. I never open the pit just to spray but spray every time I open. The beer or jack if I have any I drink.

I used to spray with cran-rasberry juice, until i got my Spicewine Smokers, now i never open the pit so i don't spray. My ribs are done 30 min. faster and still juicy. Oh and i don't foil anymore either. (I love my SW Twins)
