• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

OK so it is a really bad title! But we need help with gloves.

We have food safe gloves for prep and serving.

We are looking to place gloves under them for handling warm food.

So we would put the non food safe glove on first and then the food safe glove.
If that makes sense.

What do you use? What do you recommend ? Please and thank you

Get food safe insulated long gloves. I have a pair that I use when I need to handle hot or very warm meat. They are neoprene and can be washed just like you would wash your hands or cooking utensils.

This is just one example. There are lots of them on the market.

Then you can fit tour food safe gloves over them no issues?

They are food safe in themselves in you keep them washed and dried and properly stored. Lots of pitmasters use them. I have a pair.

I suppose you could put throw away rubber gloves on over them, but You would have to get some very large rubber gloves. I have hands that require the largest size rubber glove and consequently a very large insulated food safe glove. I don't think I could find throw away rubber gloves large enough to fit over the insulated ones even if I wanted to do so.

I have the heavy gloves listed above for moving food in or from the smoker..

For everything else I use cotton knit utility glove available at Home Depot,

And the put Nitrile gloves over top of them.

We were worried about doing this. So you could get a cheap pair from the dollar store and put them under your Nitrile gloves and no issues?

We almost would rather do this but we were not sure if really works for moving meat from the smoker to rest.

I use knit cotton gloves under nitrile. It works great.

I find insulated rubber gloves to be a pain to work with. Also when you wash them you end up with some water inside then they start to stink.

I use these for moving racks in the smoker and moving meat in and out...

Because they are easy on and off for quick tasks.

But for handling hot meat where I need some dexterity (cutting ribs, pulling pork, etc.) I just put a pair of knit gloves under nitrile, too. It works great!

I've always just doubled up on nitrile gloves and tolerated burning the living out of my hands. Hmm, I really should reexamine my approach.

I also just double glove Nitrile or Vinyl gloves, have been doing it for years. Mostly have deadened the nerve endings in my fingers I guess because they seldom get uncomfortably hot... Tried the Gator Gloves but they are hard to take off and then need cleaned and DRIED before I can use them again. Ain't worth it to me.

:icon_smile_tongue::clap2::clap:

Well I mean that is ONE way to work with it..
I just tried the Dollar Store gloves in the Nitrile gloves to do our wings and they seemed fine . We will know more later when I work on the pork butt

it has worked fine for us for many years.....

Ditto, cheap cotton under nitrile. Works great moving meat around or pulling hots racks in and out. Much better control than a big heavy mitt.

I use the nitrile gloves for prep then cheap cotton glove under nitrile for handling the hot meat. Got'em from Habor Freight, $4 for 6 pair cotton gloves and $7 for 100 nitrile gloves.
