Getting closer on new pit

I found out yesterday that the steel is being bent right now for the new pit, and welding should take place this weekend... we may have a pit by next weekend to try out... if so, we get to use it in Carmel!

Also found out something else... Long story, but the guy supplying the metal is just a great guy... my teammate and I both know him well, and he just started pastoring a new church, with my teammate as his worship leader. When asked how much the steel was going to cost, he said he's donating it and the bending work to our team.

So we're basically getting a small trailered box smoker (I think it's 3 racks that are 38"X38" with a 42" high box that's insulated), with a firebox with foundry insulation between 2 layers of steel. And it's costing us nothing.

Neil, this same guy does a cookout for his workers every Friday... he's already got a standing offer to have that provided whenever he wants.
