• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

I recently got a good deal on an old fuel oil tank and cheap trailer to put the grill on. Planning to cut it in half and connect the 2 halves making a 46”x72” grill. My grates will be 18” wide flattened expanded metal, framed with 1.5” angle and 1/2” round stock handles. The plan is to narrow the trailer so the tires set at the edge of the tank to make walking around it easier. The goal here is to cook for church functions and fundraisers where large amounts of burgers and hotdogs are needed.

My main question is how far from the grates are people typically going for an open top grill?

Has anyone built one and wished they changed something?

fire to the grate - I'd want 8' minimum (from top of coals so add 4 inches for charcoal and /or wood) but 12" seems Better. If you could make it adjustable somehow that'd be ideal.

Cut if about 1/3 to 2/3

being a trailer model - you may need to make it where you stand on the trailer to cook
