• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Ever tried it?

INGREDIENTS
6 quarts water
3/4 cup Old Bay Seasoning TM
2 pounds new red potatoes
2 pounds hot smoked sausage links, cut into 2 inch pieces
12 ears corn - husked, cleaned and quartered
4 pounds large fresh shrimp, unpeeled

DIRECTIONS
Bring water and Old Bay Seasoning to boil in a large stockpot.
Add potatoes and cook for 15 minutes. Add sausage and cook for 5 minutes more. Add corn and cook for another 5 minutes. Stir in the shrimp and cook until shrimp are pink, about 5 minutes. Drain immediately and serve on brown paper right on the table. Dig in!

I had this at a place called "Steamers" in Beaufort, SC. It was steamed (hence - Steamers) and not boiled. Simplest damn recipe in the world and some of the BEST food I have ever had. This stuff had onion in it too, way more better.
 
Yeah buddy... That is some good stuff. Very similar to a low country boil except you eat the broth. It's very easy and very good.
 
Growing up in Texas on the Gulf Coast we added some red pepper and called this dish.............


Boiled shrimp, potato's,corn and sausage.....:biggrin:

We do a big one around here every year. We add onions, scallops, crawfish, crab legs. We call it a seafood boil. We use Zatarain's crawfish boil rather than Old Bay.

I was hoping to see some frog legs in there based on the title.
 
WTF, I thought we didnt BOIL meat. Whats with taking all the flavor out of the sausage, and why not throw in some rubbed up ribs.

that is a very traditional low country (South Carolina) dish, my wifes family makes it jsut like that all the time. Easy and yummy

my mom send me the same post card four times from south carolina and the post card was the frogmore stew recipe. i figured i really had to try it and i've been making it ever since!

the recipe is a little different than yours, but similar...

in large pot boil 1 pound link pork sausage, 3 pounds new potatoes covered in water and beer. add 1 large onion & bell pepper, 3 celery ribs (all chopped), 2 tablespoons seafood seasoning, salt & pepper, boil 10 minutes, add 36" polish sausage cut into 1-1/2" links, boil 10 minutes, add 6 fresh crabs, 6 ears of corn, boil 10 minutes, add 3 pounds fresh shrimp, (raw, unpeeled), boil 3 minutes. remove from heat and let stand 5 minutes, drain & serve with additional seafood seasoning.

frogmore stew is named for a town in beaufort county, sc and is also known as beaufort or low-country stew. this recipe is from famous low-counrty chef, larry stevenson.

We made this last week with 50 ears of corn, 15 lbs of new red potatoes, 12 lbs sausage, 16 lb of shrimp, 5 lg onions quartered, bunch celery cut up, package of crab broil and tony catatorees, cooked in two large pots.................great food.
