I was given bunch of green tomatoes today for my enjoyment so I decided to whip up a nice batch of "Fried Green Tomatoes". Gave them an egg wash and rolled'em in a corn meal/flour mixture with "Lawry's" and cayenne pepper, and put them in the hot oil. Original Louisiana Hot Sauce for dippin'. Only thing missin' was the Crappie. Maybe next time.

Nice Jim. Love them fried green tomatoes when they are done right.
You are right about the fish too. They do go well together. My Mom always served grits with the fried fish and tomatoes.

I love me some fried green tomatoes! I read somewhere recently that you should soak the sliced tomatoes in ice water before battering them. It's supposed to help them stay firm when fried I think. May be worth a test next time.

I love fried green tomatoes... Never made them myself yet..

Had some recently at LL Dent's a southern homestyle restaurant on Long Island... They were excellent...

Yeah those sure look good. I`ll have to remember to try them next time I break out the big bucket fryer. Make some extra to freeze. Bet they go good with crawfish etoufee and rice.

Never had them, are they good? they look good. what do you eat them with?

Eat these puppies by themselves as an appetizer. I like to fry catfish or crappie to go with it. The taste and texture is that of zuchinni I think. They have just a hint of a wang to them. I like to dip them in just about any kind of dippin sauce.

Nothing better than fried green tomatoes but if you want a variation, try to pickle some of them. Good stuff. First tried this concoction at a Catfish restaurant around the corner from me. Decided to make my own and use it kinda like a relish/chow-chow with peas and beans on a bed of cornbread.

We sometimes make sweet pickled green tomatoes using green cherry or patio pick tomoatoes. Very sweet brine and close to the taste of a sweet gherkin.

Looks Great I perfer a thiner cut (Mom calls them tomato chips) and only use natural juice and Zanerand (spelling) fry crispy.

Fingers or a fork is the best start and you can use any side you like such as pork chops, fish, or any BBQ you like.

"Fried Green Beans" on the way!

I will be working on Fried Green Beans in the next day or so. I will post pics and results when I git-it-dun! ~Jim
