Free Wood

Got a truck load of free oak today from a local restaurant that has closed. New owners did not want it. Offered money but they wouldn't take it. Can't beat that.

Fantastic! Just make sure the wood is seasoned enough for your smoker. Many bbq joints will cook with more green wood that I do because they use gas, etc for heat and the wood only for the smoke flavor.

Ya. True. Some of it looks like it does need to wait a while before used. That's exactly the way this restaurant did it is with the gas. Thanks

That's a good deal! My buddy had a hickory tree cut down today and I scored all of the wood. Tree was probably close to 20" at the base. Now to split and season.
