I was out toolin' around on my Honda CT110 Trail Saturday when I happned upon a country yard sale. You know the ones where there is a big ol' barn full of stuff spillin out into the driveway. All sorts of useless crap. I needed a break from the pounding my 245 pounds gets on that little, itty bitty bike. The sale was put on by two elderly sisters. I could see it was a bunch of stuff I didn't need, mostly crap but I wandered around a while just to relax and shoot the breeze with the women. I happned to glance behind one of the tables and to my suprise saw an complete Big Green Egg. I hesitantly asked the price and when they said $20 I could barely contain my glee. It was an earlier model but complete with wheels and rack. I gave them the money and headed home for my truck. I had to pick up my 92 year old mother, so I got her and headed out. When I returned I told them I had brought help
Actually I was hoping that there would be some big ol' fella hanging around who could lend a hand. No such luck. I bent over the Egg and grabbed the little chrome rack it sits in and gave it a test lift just to see if it was possible for me to lift it by myself. I could barely get it off the ground. I knew that I could lift it up but controling it would be another story. The sisters seemed to be game so I asked them to help. I told them I would provide all of the lift if they could just stand on either side and guide me up. It worked! And no one got hurt. I strapped it off and headed home. After chasing the wasps out I discovered a couple of broken pieces in the chimney section but that should be an easy patch. The cradle was rusted so I sanded and painted it. I can hardly wait to try it!
