• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

I gotta tell ya, I don't get it. The whole beauty of the kettle is the reflected energy that tends to cook things evenly all over while its sitting pefectly still. I knows theres an arguement out there somewhere to be made for rotating the meat over a direct heat, so someone else can make it. If you cook indirect, there's totally no point in poking extra holes in your food or running a motor. Simplify, Simplify. All I need is an extension cord to trip over or have to think about where I want to set something hot. I have a rotisserie and hardly use it, and I can think of lots of things I'd rather spend $100 on.

Spinning Dizzy Chicken Mod is the way to go.

I connected a convection oven to a centrafuge and get perfect quail at 160* and 3200rpm.

The reason is very simple, Rotisserie cooking, where the meat turns over and over, is better than having it cook in one position because the internal juices continue to baste the meat while cooking. This is the best way to cook a Turkey.

Yeah - sort of gives it that "twisted" taste.
 
FYI: I made essentially the same thing with a section of a 55 gallon drum (thanks to Greg) and a Sears spit kit I got off ebay for $11.

And thats one of the things I love about BBQ, there's real good reasons for folks to have different opinions about most anything.
