Use to love to watch his TV commercials. I remember after he sold the company, Sara Lee eventually let him go as spokesman, and he sued them for age discrimination! Ol Jimmy, he turned that one big hit song into a good living...

I remember my first fatty with Jimmy Dean. Truly a culinary experience I will never forget. I have had to explain to many a customs agent why I bring back a cooler of it every trip.

RIP Mr. Dean.
Thanks for the deliciousness.

Interesting tidbit: Jimmy was the first person to put the Muppets (Rowlf) on TV on his show back in the 60's, prior to Sesame Street.

JD was a Nashville legend. We use only JD sausage for sausage balls and fatties at my house. :)

RIP.

Phils fattie only goes to half mast.....

Thanks folks, I'll be here all week...

Cooking two two pound fatties Friday for baked beans. Now in Memory of Jimmy himself.

I smoked a fatty, but only half way in his honor. Man am I hungry.

Poured out a 40 as well. G.B.J.D.

My grand dad and me used to drive from Houston Texas to Fremont Michigan about once a year for 5 years or so. Every year on the way up and down he'd sing me songs and play some tapes (remember those things?) of his old favorite tunes.

His absolute favorite was "Big John." And he'd sing it day in and day out, not just the road trips.. but those road trips meant a lot to me. So in that sense, ol' Mr. Dean means a lot to me too. He will truly be missed in Texas.
