• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

First year under our belts, A tale of Markets, Brides, and a whole lot of learning.

Figure I would throw out an update about where we are at. Made it through our first season of vending. It was an eye opener for sure. Learned that up is down, what should work doesn't most times and when people actually finally do come they come in herds. We grinded out most every Saturday and Sunday at our Farmer Market. Rain, sucks. Hot, sucks. Humidity, sucks. Cold, sucks. Wind, sucks really bad! But we managed and did really well. Now we are into Bridal Show season. Did you know there was such a thing, me either. Well I do now. I also learned you absolutely, Absolutley, need a permit even for this. Don't fight it. Just do it. I call now to see about if I need one to make a PB&J for my kid before bed. Just to make sure. So this Sunday is the start of Bridal shows. Have 2 scheduled in January and 2 in Feb. Hopefully that gets us some catering gigs lined up for Fall. We have 4 already on the books. Holidays we did turkey's and the fixin's for some corporate and a few private gigs. Did our first "tasting" for a couple for their reception. Another humbling moment knowing these people drove an hour away ate our food, we gave them a price, and they said yep we love it. So overall a great first year. It has been slow going in ways of wanting to be bigger but taking our time. So far we have $0 debt. We own everything we have. Which is a great feeling. We even have enough for a year lease somewhere to do a small catering kitchen and tasting room that would be ours and not have to rent out time at another place. So that is us in a nutshell. Nothing to flashy or fancy. Just low and slow progress. I'll leave you guys with some pics I don't think I have posted yet. Feel free to message or ask anything you want. I'll try to make something up that sounds good.

Wow lookin good. Glad its going well.

I remember reading that sliced brisket didnt do well for you but chopped was selling well.

What are your most popular/surpising items?
What has your best margins?

It would probably be the BBQ parfait. I don't think many people had seen it here before for some reason.

I would say our Brunswick stew and slice of corn cake. Well also our sausages. Think they cost about .25c a piece in the case and sell Sausage sandwiches for $7. My plan is to practice doing our own sausage this spring since I got a meat grinder and stuffer for Xmas though.

Congrats on your first season!
Looks like the smoker you built is working out well for you.
I was a little surprised that sausage was such a big seller. But I guess if you think about it everybody likes a good sausage sandwich.

Looking forward to following your upcoming season.
