• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

After leaving my log grate at the carwash or somewhere between there and homedepot yesterday i decided to start the mods on my firebox. its 2x2x2', bought 6 firebricks, and they had some heavy gauge expanded metal bout 20"x8" i placed 2 bricks down the each side and one in the back and one in the front and placed the grids on top. when i get paid again ill will buy another case or two of the bricks. 20$ for 6 bricks and raise it allittle higher. my question is since im putting bricks in the box should i place few along the sides standing up? as well as fill in the bottom? would this help with maintaining temps? or should i leave the bottom open to catch ash.

20$ for 6 bricks? Sheit!

I lined my sides & top of my Bandera with scrap stainless steel for $10. The ash pan is lifted off the bottom by an extra grate for some dead air space. Insulation = dead air space.

Fire bricks may hold some heat but they also transmit it when up to temperature.
