• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Has Anyone used high temp refractory cement in there smokers. I thought I would trowel a layer under the firebox and a layer on the bottom of the smoker maybe even create a slight V shape to a drain?
Is this folly or feasible?
Thanks
CWF

I did it this weekend
I wasnt good enough with a trowel to get the drain action I wanted in the smoke chamber..it was pretty thin I went thicker in the firebox and added
3 parts mason sand to the mortar. I will see what a difference it makes nrxt weekend
Cheers!

CWF:

Sounds highly feasible. Given a coating of grease before applying, it should remove rather easily as well I think (if it doesn't work). If you do it, please take "before & after pics" so you will be eligible for the cool mod of the month prize (assuming it works).
