• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

finally complete, minus a finishing paint job

been workin on my hand made, smoker from complete scratch. 36 tall, 22 wide. turning 40 next week and cant wait to take her on her maiden voyage. just hit the spice store, got everything ready for dry rub and homemade bbq sauce. first time smoking, although i have been grilling and bbq'n for my whole life. any and all advice before hand would be appriciated. i will post pics and results sometime shortly after the smoke. thanks

learn the heat zones, before the big cook test it out, buy some chicken thighs and learn your cooker, see if it leaks if it does adjust the air flow and exhaust. see how it holds temp, how much coal does it consume. this will give you an idea it you need to constantly watch it or set it and forget it type of cooker. I've made two smokers and one leaked around the door pretty bad so i had to seal it with foil, the second one turned out perfect.

i will say making your own smoker and producing some good bbq will give you a pretty good feeling of accomplishment.

good luck and happy birthday.

Just enjoy the learn mate,
