• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

My father's day gift this year? TIME TO SMOKE. :D A very rare commodity in my household.

I'm gonna smoke and cook as much as humanly possible. I'm also gonna cook a pot of beans in the belly of Binkie. I have a cast iron casserole pan that fits perfectly for that. I'll start Friday night and I can't freakin' wait!

I'll also try my first brisket (gulp).

No worries. Keep your temps under 240, preferably in the 225 range. Use a full packer cut size of about 9-10#'s for starters. Use your foil at 165 or so. Take it off at 185-190 or so. Rub it, marinade it (Dr. Pepper marinade in recipe section), or just S&P it. Shouldn't matter.

As for me - I'll probably cook Saturday but not sure. Going fishing for Stripers on Sunday - leaving wife and daughter behind. Go to happy hour at the lodge to watch Nascar afterwards. I'll worry about food later. That's my father's day present.

I don't have kids and Jeanne's grandson doesn't have much in the way of a dad so he and I are gonna cook some ribs saturday. Close as it gets for us.

Going to load it up with Brisket, coupla of Butts, many Cornish Game Hens(Akins lunches) and a coupla fatties. Got a call from my long lost son (got mad at me for some reason) to see if he could visit - I was ready to show him my new toy and all the great food - woops - he has become a vegetarian. What vegies take smoke???
