• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Are any of you guys and gals using this particular injector?
How does it work?
Is it worth the cost?

A couple of members here have them. When I was around one the rule of the day was to make sure you had the injection strained to keep it from clogging up. Other than that, it is a machine!

yup. i got it.

worth 135 bucks??? questionable.. its a load of plastic, cant cost more than 5 bucks to make.

But it will turn a pork butt into the size of a basketball, and inflate a chicken boob to a Double D.

I've used one for a couple of years. Wouldn't trade it for anything. I still use a Cabela's 4oz now and then, but the brine pump is definately my "go to" injector.

Thanks for the input, I was thinking of ordering one for July 4. I am going to cook some pork butts for work. My other injector broke on me a week or two ago. It was to small anyway, so I was using this as an excuse to buy a new one. Price is kind of high, but I like the idea of having available parts if it breaks.

I've seen chad and Poob's brine pump... very nice but seems better suited when needing to inject really large qtys.

Try the gun style injectors with the dial setting... around $40-50...

I have seen those before.

Can someone tell me what it will do differently than a $20 Cabela's model?

In other words, what makes it worth the price?

Also I have been injecting my butts and I always have a problem with the injection wanting to squirt out in another area of the butt so I was wondering Phil if you could explain how it can "turn a pork butt into the size of a basketball" without the injection bursting through the meat and leaking out.

What's the magic technique?

Vinny do you have a web site for the gun injector?

I'll post pics of mine tomorrow. ten bucks and works great. all the parts can be had at home depot.

I saw on T.V. a while back while watching a competition, The guy was using an injector, but it looked like a nozzle you would use on an air compressor to fill the hog cavity. I think I know what he used, I'm thinking it was an compressor with a custom needle to fit the blow nozzle and a hose between used for suctioning the marinade from a bucket. We used something like it once when I was working seismic production, I used on my vib, That was so long ago I don't remember all that was involved in the process. Forgive my ignorance. If you Guys know can you fill me in? It might be cheaper, I already own an air compressor with that blower end.

Man I thought this thread belonged in Woodpile. Different kind of meat pump.:icon_devil I made one of these

Click to see in action.Works good, going to mod and put hose on so I can use all in container. The guy who sells these makes one out of 1gallon sprayers.

The brine pump is very handy. I used to use one for about 4 years. They are very particular about what you are trying to inject. The strainer and the needle will get plugged easily.

The advantage to the brine pump over a regular syringe type injector is the continuous supply of injection, all you do is "poke it in and pump it up" the suction hose stays in the container of injection. I used in on numerous whole shoulders and whole hogs in competitions

I have since switched to an injector from No Cents www.nocents.us They offer an injector that is made from a pump up garden sprayer. He offers a couple of different sizes with the largest model being a 1 gallon rig. I just bought the valve and needle and used a larger sprayer tank. I can inject a 140 lb hog and six 17 lb shoulders from a single 1.5 gallon batch of injection.

I was ready to order the no cent injector and then the fiancee came in and informed me I don't need one that large for the amount of meat I cook at a time.

If she is stilla fiancee, it's not to late to run. Sounds like she is starting to bitch a little early!

F. Dick Brine Injector ...LOL, you gotta be kidding me that this is the real name!!!

I looked at the no cent website, I like the price and the large unit is stating the injection needle ports are big enough for minced onions and garlic without getting clogged. I thought that was a plus.

SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Go slow and steady.. the brine pump has a lot of holes up the sides of the needle, not a single hole at the end. It disperses the brine throughout large areas. i inject slow, watching the section i am injecting expand. Once it leaks, i back off and go to another spot. If you go to fast, it shoots out, go slow and it inflates.
