• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Decided at the last minute today to cook an Eye of Round Roast in the smoker instead of the oven. I do not like to cook roast in the smoker because my wife does not like any red in her meat.

Did it anyway. Used a rub of SPOG and smoked with cherry splits. Cooked at a temp between 300-350 for 1 1/2 hours. To an IT(I know) of 150 and let rest for 20 minutes before slicing.

It had a great flavor and smoke ring for only being in the cooker for 1 1/2 hrs. Not cooked to my doneness, but have to please the wife. It still was very good and juicy.

On the Boss Hogg. 300-350 using cherry splits. 1 1/2 hr cook time to 150 IT.( I know) wife does not like medium rare.

Sliced, very good smoke flavor and not dry. Very juicy. I do not know why it was not dry. Gave it a 20 minute rest before slicing.

Thanks for looking. I know it was cooked past medium rare. Need to have a happy wife.
 
For a cheap roast, I actually like a rump roast better than eye of round. Eye of Round I relegate to jerky duty.

Looks good. I smoked an eye of round recently and sliced really thin for deli style beef. Good stuff.
 
Eye of the round is actually one of my favorites. Smoked and then a high sear. Sliced thin with horseradish and onion on a good bun. Mmmmmmh, good eatin'!

I could go for some of that right about now.
 
smoked eye of round 3 pork belly`s for church function last sun. cooked eye to 140# wrapped in foil put in cooler for 1hr. sliced thin was surprised at amount of juice came out above med by color tasted grate iv`e always used if for jerky imagin that :doh::doh::doh:
