• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

If the lady wants it, buy it. Spare no expense just be glad she's not asking for Diamonds.

I have a small Le Crueset piece and a big one from the Mario Batali line (yes, almost as cheesy as Rachel ray, but not quite). The small one is too small for most stuff, get a big one.

The difference is the thickness of the enamel coating. i am quite happy with mine big one at 99 bucks. Lodge has some now too.
Get the big one and I'll give you a swell recipe for a no knead loaf of French bread that you bake in the enamel pot-best bread i have ever made at home.

I just noticed recently that of all places, Walmart is now carrying a 'LODGE' brand of dutch ovens that are enamel. They are very nice quality and the prices are reasonable. Not the Le Crueset but also not the price of Le Crueset. I have one on my Christmas list....maybe two. I like to cook in large quanities around here and I like to have a lot of room. I would like this 6 qt. $49.95

Get a 12" Le Crueset. High quality, enough room to cook a big pot of Jambalaya, but easy enough to move around the kitchen easily. All of my cast iron is Lodge (not including the 100+ year old stuff handed down), and I believe that their unfinished cast iron is the best in the world. However, when it comes to looks and prestige, the Le Crueset will really wow the wife and her friends. Just be very careful not to chip or scratch!

I bought my wife the large Le Crueset last year. I shopped around for a while and I think cooking.com had the best price.... well that's kind of an oxymoron. That stuff was expensive!

I just bought a set of "Cooks" branded enameled products for my wife. They look surprisingly like the "lodge" brand show below. They have worked very well. Cooks is a JCPenney brand and they are all on sale this week.

And be careful you don't overheat the pot and melt the enamel. (don't ask)

I have 3 Le Crueset dutch ovens. A 5qt Oval, a 7 qt round and a 5qt shallow round that is great for braising. I Love em all!

My wife has 2 Le Cruset's...a yellow one and an orange one. She absolutely loves them! The yellow is a 6 qt and the orange one is a 10 qt...I think. :-P

What makes these enamel pots so much better than an aluminum stock pot?
Because they are cast iron they hold the heat so much better than aluminum. And like my wife says...they are "prettier."

Good looks and great function...

For the record, I do not have any enamaled cast iron, as I like the look of well seasoned cast iron. As for why cast iron, I think TFox says it best.

All my cast iron is Lodge, however if I were going for an enameled finish it would be a Le Creuset.

Ever hear of this type of dutch oven?:

When you in bed with your wife rip a good fart under the sheets and then pull the sheets over your spouse's head. Hold for as long as possible.

The Dutch Oven.

I have a set of Le Creuset cookware that I received as a gift when I moved into my first apartment (1980!) They are in pristine shape after 27 years of use. I have both the large and small DOs and I use both of them on the stovetop and in the oven.
