• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

I am looking at ads for this weekend sales. Bass pro shops has an Open Country Electric food slicer for 49.88 from 6am to 11am. Is this a good deal? Anybody have experience with one of these? Yea or nae? The catalog number is 1303262. What can ya tell me?

I would consider what you are going to use it for. Reading one of the reviews, it said that the gears are plastic. Under heavy use these will not last.

IMHO save your money and get better model or save for a Hobart (used of course).

I've had several slicers and the one I use now is an old Rival that breaks down so you can put everything but the motor in the sink. I'm sure they're not in production anymore, but you should be able to find one on that evil auction site. I'll post a pic tonight. Gotta go to work now.

I had one like that for years. When it finally gave up I bought this one and really like it. I've had it for about a year and a half and it works well and is easy to clean.

What wrong with companies these days, using "plastic" gears. They just don't build anything to last anymore.

probably because we live in a disposable society now. If a small home unit came with metal gears, what are the odds that the majority of consumers would keep them lubed up? With the increased cost, and resulting increased price how many fewer units would they sell?

I had one that you could remove the motor and throw the rest in the dish washer. Now I have a Waring Pro and find it very difficult to clean, but it works like a champ.
