Becase of everything that I have been trying to do the past few months I have not had a chance to use my BGE. I went to cook steaks on it last night. Opened it and there was mildew in it. The dome and the grate. How should I clean it. I thought I should fire it up to 700 degrees and let it burn for a while. My family says diluted bleach water which does not seem right esp. on the dome. Thanks for the help. I do keep this covered with the Lg. BGE cover.

Yeah, I've be worried about the bleach leeching into the ceramic. I would brush off the area where you can with out damage (grates, ceramic pieces, should be OK to brush off), and then kill the rest with fire.

I found mold in one of my eggs and did just as the others have said, a burn at 600-700 did the trick. During that burn I also noticed a lot of greasy-colored water droplets leeching out on the ouside of the dome. It had me worried as I wasn't sure what the heck was going on. Apparently the ceramic had sucked up a lot of moisture over the winter. I think I'll buy a cover for it.
