I didn't get home until late Monday night so I haven't had a chance to read the forum tell now. It was a good contest with some very good teams. The organizers did a good job and I am sure things will be even better next year. I got too meet a lot of teams, which I don't get to do often.
My tent took a tumble as I was making up my brisket turn in, I just keep on making my box and didn't even look up. People kept running over and asking if I wanted them to help me pick it up, I just kept saying thank you no, I'll take care of it after I turn in my box. Finely a couple guys couldn't take it any longer and came over and set it upright, I don't know if anyone else had a problem with their tents.
All the smack talk crowd were a hoot, good to meet all of you. They will have to come up with something different next year for the peoples choice, I set out all my leftovers and except for a small hand full of pork, it was gone in no time and I had a lot of food. From some of the comments they were making I sure wished some of them had been judging.
The Brethren were present and I believe I was the only one cooking on a Spicewine, the crowd loved it and there were a lot of questions ask about it and a lot of photos were taken of it.
My cook went well until I cranked up the heat around 375/400 to cook the peoples choice whole pork tenderloin. When it was done I had a heck of a time getting the temp back down to put my ribs and chicken on I guess because it is so well insulated, it was touch and go there for a time.
Funniest thing was at the awards, when Quau got mobbed by a couple senior lady citizens copping a feel, on his way up to get his GC award. thought for a moment they were going to take him to the ground and have their way with him. ;-)
