• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Drum Height ?

You know, I really don't like it when people provide that impersonal touch and say 'check this thread for more info' but, dang . . . there's The Most Awesome Thread on Drum Smokers right here. I know if you read this, you'll have more information than you'll ever need on this subject.
To answer your question directly, I think the most important measurement would be to mount the cooking grate at 34" from the ground.

Only if you feel you need more cooking grates. I have two 38" and a 35" and can't tell any difference between them.

Those taller drums are extremely hard to find. If you did find one bet it would be costly.

And you would need a good step ladder.

Cliff: A 3" difference don't matter. Besides, you can allways make an extension ring. As far as buying one off ebay; I hold out for getting one locally. Shipping will be prohibitive in most cases.
