• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

I have used both sizes and it feels that the 26 gets hotter than hell compared to the 22....bloody hotter.....cellphone in pocket going to melt hotter.....that the norm?

Are you using more lit charcoal at one time per chance ? If anything, the 26'er should run a bit cooler than the 22 on the same amount of coal, both for direct cooks and indirect cooks. On indirect, there's more air volume to heat up. On direct cooks, I think the space between the charcoal grate and grill grate is a bit more.

Feels about the same amount of charcoal .....but the thermometer shoots up like crazy....always thought 26 was cooler.

I Never noticed anything... maybe with the larger cooking grate your fire is spread out more and since the kettle is alot bigger your reaching inside deeper than a 22 ? I dont know

Same amount of coals, the 26 will not get get as hot as the 22 assuming airflow is the same. More square inches with same fuel source...

May be it is all in my head. Don't get my wrong, for grilling, it is great. I usually set up half the charcoal grate with charcoal and leave the other half empty as a low temp zone.

Hmm...I would think it would run maybe a little cooler, but not much due to the extra volume/space.

Possible that the 26" seals up better......that's the reason I'll use different 22's for different things & the old daisy wheel 26" for certain things....sometimes I don't mind if it leaks & goes to a higher temp (any size)

I'm betting you had more charcoal in it that you thought, pound for pound of charcoal I'm betting they run the same temps...
