Let the music do the talking:

At the GAB invitational Boondoggle takes GC, Iowa Smokey D's takes RGC

In the open Buster Dog takes 1st in chicken and honorary Iowan Scottie (CSC) takes 1st in pork.

What other Iowans am I missing?

So, does Iowa BBQ rule the universe or is it more appropriate to say that until we discover intelligent life on other planets that Iowa BBQ simply rules the world?

Bad ass cookers in Iowa. Starts with Clone and his dominance for years on the national stage. Now he is getting pushed by some new young teams and older teams that are starting to click. Bunch of good folks in the IBS as well. They do a lot of good things. A lot..

Proud to say I have a bunch of friends there. Plus, I'll be staying in one of yous fine rest stops tonight. Unless we stop at a casino.

Toughest state in the nation per bbq capita no doubt...I go to Missouri when I need a break from the tough competition up here:p

Ouch! This really IS the smack talk thread! Don't forget... half the Boondoggle team is a fine Missouri resident!

I see Bob as a temporarily displaced Iowan. Now that he seems to be earning real money it's only a matter of time until he returns!!

So much so that a border fence is being put up to keep you guys out of Wisconsin comps for a while.

All kidding aside, there are a lot of great teams out of Iowa that I enjoy competing against and look forward to beating someday as I continue to learn while wandering down the competition road.

Never even knew that Iowa had BBQ....actually, wasn't sure they even had internet connections until I saw this thread!

Kidding, I have run into a few teams and they have some good Q!

Looks like you're holding you're own Jeff...congrats on a huge win! And I agree with Monty the Doggler's are Iowan's:becky:

Nate, let's not forget reserve and 2nd runner up in Minnesota in May last week with 4 mile Smokin Crew and Dry to the Bone. Then Jefferson City with 4 of the top 10 from Iowa. John and Paul Lengling also won a GC in Nebraska not long ago either. Oh and how can you forget Monte's little monsters?

BBQ is tough all around.

OK guys, tell you what... as a life-long Missourian, I believe REAL barbecue was born in Missouri, specifically Kansas City (NOT Kansas!). I'll be coming to Mason City in July to compete in "Up in Smoke" and we'll put your theory to the test! :boxing: If your guys finish higher than the Missouri teams, I'll say Iowa barbecue is number one! :becky: However, since I get my briskets up your way, I guess I at least have to give in a little either way, huh? I'll volunteer now to host the good luck shot and supply all the Gentleman Jack! That isn't really smack I guess!

Hey Jeff, more than likely your pork comes from here, and if you use SmartChicken a lot of that comes from the great Haweye State as well.:thumb:
