• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

My brother gave me a bottle of Dave's hot sauce as an early Christmas gift. Like having  a liquid thermonuclear meltdown. Use sparingly to season sauces.

That stuff is WAYYYYYYY to hot for my taste... makes your teeth go numb. I learned a few years ago, that in the effort to be tough and macho, i was missing half the flavor of my cooking.. so I backed off on the insane heat and now know what things really taste like. Theres a hot sauce called Mannys Pit Bull (www.mannyspitbullhotsauce.com). Its a local sauce here on Long Island.. REALLY GREAT, more flavor than heat. Comes in 2 temps. hot and real hot. Even the real hot is pretty easy to take.

I have to agree with you. I like spicy, but its about the flavor, not fanning yourself into spontaneous combusteon. The reason my bro sent the bottle of Insanity is cause I gave him a bottle of Ass Blaster. I just liked the label (a picture of a donkey tootin), and he IS the insane prove how much heat you can have in your chili type. Personally the next day I like to wipe, not DAB. Insanity is "a poop scootin' boogee."
I do like heat, though this bottle is a lifetime supply. I will use it sparingly to spice up chili, or add a little kick to what I inject in a pork butt. But I'm not the type to have anyone fanning there mouth unless I know in advance that's what theyre after.

i got this stuff called Devils Revenge. We had it at B2, so im sure someone will vouch for it.. one little drip and your lips tend to shrivel up and invert.

I got my bottle from a little store in Columbus, GA back in '96. Still got a half bottle left. I don't really use it anymore except for the occasional big pot of chili that gets a little dab. And that's all it takes. I save mine for the cookout when some guy (there's always one) says I don't a sauce that's hot enough for him. Wellllllllllllll then, I break out the bottle of Insanity and let them cry for a while. I had one guy actually put it on a burger like ketchup....LOL. I let him suffer for a few minutes before I handed him a bowl of peanut butter and a spoon. That's just to prove to them that I'm not evil after all. Other than that, it stays up on the top shelf collecting dust.

You want flavor but not heat, Phil turned me on to quite a few. Manny's makes a great sweet hot sauce, that is more sweet than hot. Full of flavor. But don't go nutz with it, cuz it will burn if liberally applied.

He also gave me a local brand called Pepperheads which I have yet to try. I think he said it was also full flavored, but not for the sake of heat.

He included a third bottle with a Skull and a black hood on it called "Ass Reaper". Now I haven't tried this, but I have this funny feeling that it might be hot :)

A little Dab'll do ya!

I can't stay out of this stuff. It's too hot. More heat than flavor. Still I'm putting a drop in lots of things I cook and eat. Today is a serving of beans from Dickey's BBQ (flavorless....drip....BAM). I know there are better sauces out there but like a junky I can't help myself. Makes me nervous when my stomach starts groaning like a submarine at crush depth....

I bought some Dave's Insanity, thinking it was plain old habandero sauce. First time I tried it I dumped it on some eggs...

I thought I was going to die. My farking lips felt like they were melting, and I could barely breath through the sauce fumes.
