• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

I will be buying a 15 or so pound Pork Belly from Cash & Carry here shortly. It is frozen. I would like to cut it in at least half. Should I fire up the chainsaw?
If not, any suggestions?

Not familier with cash and carry. Do they have a meat counter. Have them cut it with their bandsaw

A band saw would be ideal, but you may be able to cut it with a hacksaw (clean blade, of course) :-D

Everyplace I buy meat has a Band saw in the back have it cut & repacked before checkout.

Is it a problem to thaw it out cut it in half and refreeze? Cutting a frozen pork belly with a sawsall is going to be a pain in the arse and get your sawsall all gross. How would you control the belly while you cut with a sawsall? Clamp it down to your work bench? No thanks.

Im pretty surgical with a sawzall, it wouldn't be hard. Sawzall are pretty easy tools to handle, theyre safe for women and small children to use.

I've cut steaks off frozen salmon with a skill saw in the past. Works very well.

Sawzall , don't got one. Suppose I could go buy one. But if a new cheapo hacksaw with an unpainted blade will work. Hmmm....my neighbor just got home from his hunting trip, Jim butchered his own critters...bet he has a saw that he uses....

Get a good meat hand saw at a restaurant supply place. It comes in handy for cutting ham bones, frozen meat or anything with a bone. Good luck.

I believe a battery operated sawsall is the go to tool for dressing deer these days.

Meat/Bone Saw will do the trick may be difficult to make small and or uniform cuts but certainly effective for slicing a pork belly in half. Sawzall will also do the trick and may be more fun. I dont know if you would be best with a bi-metal or pruning blade though.
