First of all this is more of a statement than a question. I'm using old water heaters to build my cooker. They are coated on the inside with vitreous glass. (I googled it) I didn't think much about it until yesterday. I tried welding in a rack. I had to grind it off. Its tough stuff. I tried to burn it off with a rosebud on the torch. It melted but hardened right back up. I don't know what it will hurt. My fire will never be that hot.
Second. Where my horizontal tank is welded to the vertical. The cold smoker. How big a hole do I put in there? Do I cut it all out? half of it? Put in a damper? Right now its just 2 tanks welded together. Not shown in the pic but I do have doors cut out and racks going in. There is no fire box yet either.
As for the fire box I was told to over lap it a third. So that s what im going to do.
