I just pulled the husk down on 6 ears of corn and am soaking them in water prior to putting them on the WSM. I have a large pile of silk and am wondering if anyone has ever found a good use for them. I did a google search and a search on here and saw only that they are good for a herbal tea to combat incontinence in humans and dogs. Any other ideas?

...you mean, other than smoking it out behind the barn?

I got nuthin. Even my pig, who would gnaw right through an ear of corn husks cob and all, would spit out the silk!

Can't help you on a use for the silk.

But, I just soak the whole thing, corn, husk, and silk in water for an hour or so.
Then onto the grill.

The silk is SO EASY to remove after cooking. Comes right off.
Much easier than pulling it off earlier.

Just my tidbit for today. :-D

Man o man is that funny, that was my first thought, roll it up in toilet paper and smoke it! That's what we did when i was a kid.........

I never soak my corn just place it straight on the grill or oven at 350 degrees for 30-45 minutes.
When you take them off the grill......make sure you wear gloves and the silk sticks to the husks and peels it all peels off clean.

The only thing other than compost I can think that I have done with the silk is to throw it on the concrete pad and use it as sweep medium like sawdust. It picks up dropped ash really well...

Since you are not in Montana I guess you couldn't become a Dental Floss Tycoon, but mayber reduce your spending on it?

I'm with you! The corn also tastes way better when grilled with the husk on. Try it; you'll love it!
